Here’s an update about the name change. I made it legal on January 12, 2012, when I went before a judge who signed the name change order. I immediately went to Social Security and then to the Department of Public Safety to get my new license. Saying I was soaring high is an understatement. The way I see it, I have given myself the best gift.It felt so good to became Victorea Luminary (pronounced Victoria Loom-in-AR-ee almost Italian sounding). It felt RIGHT!

To be called by a name that I absolutely LOVE, feels simply fantastic! In the past whenever someone told me that their name was Victoria, I would swoon in delight, letting them know just how much I loved the name. All the while secretly longing that I could be named Victoria, too.

Now my name is, Victorea! It’s such a thrill to have a name that I love. It feels very empowering to have had this opportunity, to change my name to a name that I love and chose for myself.

You might wonder about the process of changing a name. When I first thought about the idea over a year and half ago, a ton of fear came up for me. All I could think about was how hard it would be all the paperwork involved. I thought of all the bank accounts, credit cards, deeds, etc.that my name was on. At first I thought I can’t do that.

Fear is “False Evidence Appearing Real”. Just like with any fear that comes up it’s best to face it and walk straight into it. When I walked head on into the fear of changing my name I found that changing my name was not as difficult as the fear would have me believe.Fear often stops us in our tracks. But, we can chose to push through and find the freedom that is just behind the veil of fear.

What has been the hardest part about changing my name? Honestly, nothing. Oh sure, some people have shared that they are afraid they will forget and call me by the old name. When they do, I simply remind them that I understand and it’s okay either way. Heck, I have never been that great with names either!! I also remind them that I love the new name and that when it is spoken it makes my heart sing!

There are some who simply refuse to use the new name and I understand where this is coming from and love them anyway.

So, it’s been easier than I dreamed it would be. The best part though is that I am now called Victorea, which I love. If you are considering a name change and want to talk about it, I am happy to share my experience with you. It’s really much easier than you think. If you have a name that you hate you might consider it. I have found it really liberating as the new name doesn’t carry all the baggage of the old name. The old name was used by my parents when they were unhappy with me, and I can still hear that. No one has used my new name in that manner. It’s fresh and pure. Yet another bonus!

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. Wishing you much love & many blessings.
