Ho’Ponopono & Gratitude Walking Meditations

Ho’Ponopono & Gratitude Walking Meditations

Meditation is not something I feel I do all that well. When I imagine meditating I think I should be like a monk sitting cross-legged on a cushion. Sitting meditation is not something that has ever resonated with me. I do better with movement. If you are like me, you might appreciate these suggestions for Walking Meditations.

Ho’Oponopono Meditation

Ho’oponopono is a healing/forgiveness prayer from Huna – the ancient Hawaiian healing modality. In the late 1980s, I was blessed to study Huna with a wonderful teacher who taught a year-long program.

One day before heading out for my daily walk, my Angelic guides suggested I practice Ho’oponopono one the prayers while walking. I did.

As I walked, whatever thought came to mind for healing, I chanted the prayer.

It went like this, “Anxiety, I’m Sorry, Please Forgive Me, I Love You, Thank you.”

“Relationship with money, I’m Sorry, Please Forgive Me, I Love You, Thank you.”

“Fear of Lack, I’m Sorry, Please Forgive Me, I Love You, Thank you.”

“Physical health, I’m Sorry, Please Forgive Me, I Love You, Thank you.”

“Mental health, I’m Sorry, Please Forgive Me, I Love You, Thank you.”

“All my organs, I’m Sorry, Please Forgive Me, I Love You, Thank you.”

“Body, I’m Sorry, Please Forgive Me, I Love You, Thank you.”

“Lungs, I’m Sorry, Please Forgive Me, I Love You, Thank you.”

Heart, I’m Sorry, Please Forgive Me, I Love You, Thank you.

“All Worries, Concerns, Doubts, I’m Sorry, Please Forgive Me, I Love You, Thank you.”

You get the idea.

Each time something new came into my mind, I added the Ho’oponopono prayer:

I’m Sorry,
Please Forgive Me,
I Love You,
Thank you.

I did this for the entire 40-minute walk.
Returning to the house, I felt so much better; not only relaxed from the physical activity but relaxed mentally and emotionally. I felt more positive about my body, and my life overall.

I share this with you as a possibility for walking meditation.

P.S. I also often do Gratitude Meditation walks, in which I chant all the things I am grateful for.

I begin with the phrase, “I am so happy and grateful for, _________” Filing in the blank with whatever I am grateful for, or whatever comes to mind.

I repeat the statement and fill in the blank repeating until I feel complete.

That might look like:
I am so happy and grateful for my heart beating.
I am so happy and grateful for my friends.
I am so happy and grateful for the card I received in the mail today.
I am so happy and grateful for, my feet.
I am so happy and grateful for my abundance.
I am so happy and grateful for all my blessings.
