Love wave
Happy Valentine’s Day! Remember the love you share with others, must equal the love you have for yourself. Otherwise, you may wind up feeling depleted and resentful.
Loving yourself is not selfish, I do not care what you have been told. It is NOT selfish to love yourself. Loving yourself shows up as self-respect, self-esteem, confidence – not to be confused with cockiness or narcissism. Caring for the #1 person in your life, YOU, is vital. Without you, where would you be?

So, even if you are single, or alone on Valentine’s Day this year, worry not. You ARE love. Love yourself the way you want to be loved by a someone else. Treat yourself to that box of candy, just don’t consume the entire box in one sitting. 😉 Buy yourself flowers, especially if you are bemoaning not having someone to give you flowers. Take yourself to the movies. Get the popcorn. Make a gratitude list. List all the things you are grateful for. If you can’t think of anything, start with this, “I am so happy and grateful, my heart is beating and my lungs are breathing precious air.” Do something today that shows your inner child how much you love and respect her/him. My inner child likes it when I make a latte and write in my journal, or sit in bed and read her a children’s book. Acts of love don’t have to cost a dime.

When I finally came to truly love myself without conditions, I adopted a zero-tolerance policy – meaning I respect myself so much I only accept the best and respect from others. It was then that my one true love walked through my door. Seriously. That’s how easy it was, even though it took years of heartache to get to that point. Apparently, I am a slow learner. LOL.

Loving yourself is not to be confused with masturbation. Seriously! A few students have said they thought that was what I was referring to.  OMG!! Too funny. That is NOT what I mean by self-love.
What I mean by Self-Love is: Love yourself like you would love another. Love yourself with as much passion and purity, as much respect, as much knowing of how special you are, as you would love your beloved.
YOU are that special. YOU matter.
You know how when you love someone else you think you could not possibly live without them? And you love them more because of it? You cannot live without yourself!  Love yourself that much!!! Your #1 relationship is with YOU.
Finally, take no shit, no bull-shit, no abuse-shit, no shit whatsoever. That is Self-Love (Self-Respect). Got it? Good.
Now get out there and LOVE. The world needs powerful, outrageous, open, caring, compassionate, no strings attached love.
